I am a filmmaker with a passion for BMXing and seeing the World. Since 2015 I wanted to create my own film capturing BMX in new and exciting places. However, work tended to get in the way so for 2 years the film was just a pipe dream. In 2016 I met Chloe Palmer who was a keen photographer who was about to fly out to Australia for a year. So, realising this could be the only time I could get the time and scenery to film my BMX film in new and exciting places, I followed her out there. We traveled the whole of Australia in a van we'd renovated trying to capture as much of the beautiful landscape and interesting BMX shots as possible. In 2018 we returned to England and I got stuck in editing. However, once again work got in the way of being able to edit the film. Working on it piece by piece whenever I found a spare couple of hours and with re-writes and feedback sessions with some industry professional that I respect lead me to finally get to this point. Two years to the day after arriving back in England I am releasing the final version of this epic journey. Henry Cakebread is a filmmaker with a passion for BMXing. The desire to put together an in-depth BMX film had always been in the back of his mind, though other things often took priority. But after weighing up his priorities, after meeting the woman who would become his girlfriend, photographer Chloe Palmer, he decided to pack up his stuff and finally make that film over in Australia. Weekend Wandering – The Outback follows Henry and Chloe’s journey around and across Australia, diverting between producing a BMX film and photographing the wildlife, locations and landscapes. Cut from the short film, this was the title sequence that was going to be used to open the film. Inspired by the opening titles of the Red Bull film, Blood Road, I experimented with camera movement and lighting within After Effects to create this. The thing I enjoyed experimenting with the most was the depth of field of the After Effects camera. This added a degree of depth to what is just a collection of graphics flying across the screen.

With a goal of capturing original and inspiring BMX photography in the outback of Australia, a stubborn, British BMX rider and a passionate photographer find that they can not do the 20,000 km journey alone.
